Originating from Bangladesh, Shakib Hossain pursued his passion for storytelling at the University of Dhaka’s Department of Television, Film and Photography. His decision to study filmmaking was born out of a deep love for cinema, a path he chose over many others. Shakib’s journey began in 2014, when as a sixth grader he developed a nightly ritual of watching one film before bed. Over time, movies became his emotional anchor, motivating him through difficult moments. One film in particular, Seven Pounds (2008), profoundly shaped his outlook: its message of self‑sacrifice revealed to him the true power of cinema—not just to entertain, but to inspire people to become better human beings. That realization solidified his decision to dedicate his life to filmmaking.
